the Key Laboratory of Karst Environment and Geohazard Prevention,Ministry of Education, Guizhou University was established and renamed in January 2003 on the basis of “Key Laboratory of Guizhou Provincial State Land Regulation and Remote-Sensing Application and by integrating the related disciplinary resources of Guizhou University and Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with Guizhou University as the dependency.
 
The Laboratory has 64 employees, of whom there are 12 professors, 22 associate professors, 24 lecturers and 6 teaching assistants; 18 scholars achieved Ph.D and 28 M.D. There are three outstanding specialist under provincial management and three provincial-level excellent scientific and technological researchers. Now, an academic innovation contingent has been brought up, with middle- and young-aged personnel as the academic backbone of the Laboratory, who are good at close cooperation, development and innovation and rigorous style of study in scientific research.
